Priorities for assessments may be based on professional judgement considering the following:
controls or personal protective equipment used
employee complaints
occupational illnesses
and for IH (air sampling or other) assessments:
characteristics of the material (e.g. a skin absorption chemical may require only biological monitoring; highly toxic materials may require additional controls)
past quantitative exposure assessments or corrective actions received
new toxicity data
emissions data.
